Studying hard

I've been hanging over my books the last couple of days, trying to catch up with the rest of my classes. I'm about halfway there now, except for math, which is no big surprise. At the same time I've been writing a post on the immigrants and refugees situation here in Sweden. Yesterday I discovered that I have to do it all over again, because my english just isn't good enough. It's hard to write about something like that, in a foreign language, without sounding like you A) dislike immigration, B) dislike Swedes, C) are an racist idiot. It's a tough topic and I want to get it right.

LazyWorm wanted a higher weekly allowance. I pointed out to him that RazorTongue did three times the amount of household chores, got out of bed on time in the morning and did her homework without whining for hours first. Now, what on earth made him think that he deserved more allowance than her?
-I'm a teenager and almost grown-up."
-Good, then show me that you can do anything else than hanging out with your friends."
-That's why I need more allowance."

Catch 22 in a nutshell.

The child is clever to turn your arguement around like that!

Maybe there should be an increase in allowance just for being clever...

Don't do it, POP. Don't give in! He may be a LazyWorm but he's crafty. Keep your guard up!

You have to do it again because 'your English isn't good enough'??? You're joking, right?

Since I started reading your blog, I've always considered your English to be excellent!

Most of the time I would never know that it had been written by someone who's first language was not the same as mine!

Virginia gal: Oh, you can rest assured he won't get any more money without doing more at home. :)

m: Yeah, probablly. Hugs & Kisses.

Shark-Fu: Oh, he's a clever little devil alright! But his sister is too and she never asks for more money, except when she goes shopping for me.

Maidink: I always keep my guard up. I still remember what I was like, being a teenager...

Piggy & Tazzy: You don't know how much I appreciate your comment!

The problem is that writing about my everyday life isn't especially hard but changing to a subject that is both complex and interpretable is a really tough challenge.

On the other hand, it's a tough challenge in Swedish too. :)
