To ABB and others who wonder

This is the cake we had for my birthday. It's ready to eat out of the box, once it's thawed. We usually don't wait until it's completely thawed though, since it tastes very much as icecream.

There's two layers of sponge cake, lot's of whipped cream and strawberry jam topped with green marcipan, chocolate strains and icing sugar. Really yummy!

As you can see it's called Princess cake and there's a variety of it, with pink marcipan, called Opera cake.

As for gifts, I got three pairs of socks, a novel by Clive Cussler (Sahara), a funny book about the eighties and a very nice maroon-colored sweater from my family. From my MIL and FIL I received a very nice advent calender (Christmas calender?) with a different kind of schnapps behind every opening.
So far I've tasted Black currant/Vodka (very nice!), Vodka spiced with cummin, Figs/Vodka (very tasty!) and Vodka/Blood orange (favorite so far). I just can't wait until I've tasted them all.

Marzipan must be the most disguting creation on the planet, according to most people I know.

I've never tasted it, being allergic to nuts.

The cake DOES look lovely though.

P&T: Marzipan is one of those things you either love or hate. Personally I love it but not like it's on this cake since it mostly tastes sugar.

Anthon Berg Marzipan Bread... Now, there's a treat! :)

I'm also allergic to nuts. Not the eadeble ones though... :D

We get this in Ikea in Scotland. Its very nice and being a Glasgow Celtic fan and it being green makes it better.

Aah.. IKEA, the most Swedish of Swedish companys... :)

Glad you agree on the cake, Patt. I'm not all that into football but as a kid I liked Gothenburg IF (The Angels) who had green and black shirts.

Shark-Fu I bet she could! If you have IKEA anywhere near where you live, you might get it there? :)
