Teflon-brain & thanks [updated][again]

First of all, I want to thank everyone who has commented on my mothers accident and wishing her a fast recovery. If she knew about my blog, I'm sure she would appreciate your thoughts very much.

I had actually forgotten how tough studying can be. The last few days I've been reading my eyes square. Not only is the pace tough right from the start but I also started a few weeks later than the rest of my classes.

And I've noticed that my brain seems to have been coated with a layer of teflon. Something that has been sneaking up on me as I grew less young. Okay, I'm a middleaged fart, so sue me.

Today was (surprise, surprise) another laundry day. In between pouring detergent and other stuff in the machine, I tried to do some homework in math. Math is, and will always be, greek to me. Actually, I believe that I would have learned greek faster than math. My brain doesn't wanna know math. In fact, it hates math that much, that it makes a mutiny every time I open my book. Instead, it starts thinking of things that it finds more pleasant. Like the question: Did I remember to put fabric softener in the machine too?

After fetching LittleAngel from day care, homework is a no-go. She's all over me, wanting something to drink, eat, change diaper or just cuddle. Or chasing the cat, trying to climb the bookshelves, spreading cd's all over the living room floor or anything else that will catch my attention and make me chase after her. And she still just one and a half years old! From experience I know that it will only get worse before it gets any better.

Have to stop writing. LittleAngel is just about ready to climb Mount Laundry.

[update]

Remember the accident I wrote about? His girlfriend wasn't to commit suicide, which makes Marcus Linde's death even more heroic. She got stuck with her shoe as they where taking a shortcut over the tracks. Marcus managed to get her loose and push her aside at the very last second. Unfortunatly he didn't make it.

This article (in swedish) shows a picture of Marcus and a picture of some of his friends having a memorial at the fountain in Lund's town park.

[another update]

I saw this at Maidink's place and had to have a go. Considering I only understood about half of the choices it went pretty good:

I'm an apparently intelligent, liberal, disgustingly generous, pathetically simple-minded, dribbling child!
See how compatible you are with me!
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey

I just love the part that says
"disgustingly generous" since my wife thinks I'm a Scrooge. :D

LittleAngel is a mountain climber? Good luck. :)

I love math (maybe that's why I'm in accounting). Now science and I do not mix. Not the chemistry or physics stuff (that has math). We are talking biology. Hated the stupid course. Two legs - man, more than two legs, not man. That's the extent of my biology knowledge.

Marcus was a handsome young man. I would have loved to have read the article; however, my Swedish is a shade rusty (okay, it's non-existant).

Math is Greek - I totally feel your pain. The only subject harder for me than math was foreign language.
That story is so sad, reminiscent of the scene in the movie "Fried Green Tomatos."

Hi POP!

I hope your Mother is doing better...what a scary thing to happen.

Thanks for the story update...somehow it is even more tragic.

As for Math, a bitch is totally lost. So, good luck with that...oh, and the laundry too!
